Kelet Ensemble

The Kelet Ensemble integrates classical music into the lives of children and inspires them to play a musical instrument. Peter and the Wolf (by Sergei Prokofiev) and Carnival of the Animals (by Camille Saint-Saens) are master works originally composed for symphony orchestras. Kelet Ensemble also interacts with the young audiences by introducing their instruments and what characters the instruments represent.
In Carnival, images, such as birds or the wind, are illustrated by imitating their sound or motion through various compositional techniques. In Peter and the Wolf, each character-crafty cat, an unfortunate duck, a grumpy grandfather, and the carefree courageous bird-is given its own music played by an orchestral instrument.

About the Artist
With its entertaining and educational children’s program, the Kelet Ensemble aims to integrate classical music into the lives of children and motivate them to play a musical instrument. Peter and the Wolf (by Sergei Prokofiev) and Carnival of the Animals (by Camille Saint-Saens) are time-honored master works originally composed for symphony orchestras. The Kelet Ensemble has arranged them for piano trio (piano-violin-cello) and a narrator, who also plays percussion instruments. This smaller setting makes the master works more accessible to communities and schools. In addition, the performers of Kelet Ensemble also interact with the young audiences by introducing their instruments and what characters the instruments represent. The KeletEnsemble also has a special arrangement for only piano-violin duet with a narrator. This option is available for venues or presenters with smaller program budgets.
