Through our diverse roster of artists, Arts for Learning Connecticut engages students of all ages and abilities in learning creatively through the arts.
Access for All
We believe that every child deserves the right to an education that fosters their creativity and allows them to experience and explore the arts. As an inclusive organization, Arts for Learning CT’s goal is to bring high-quality, arts-integrated instruction that is accessible, supportive, and welcoming to children of all backgrounds and abilities into the classroom.
As a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization, Arts for Learning Connecticut raises over $200,000 each year to support thousands of under-served children to experience the joy of performance, connect with professional artists, and see brilliant sparks of possibility.
Arts integration is a valuable tool for reaching multiple learning styles across the curriculum and is linked to enhanced academic outcomes and social/emotional development for children, including those with special needs.
Many of our artists are trained in Universal Design for Learning (UDL), which is an educational framework based on research in the learning sciences, including cognitive neuroscience, that guides the development of flexible learning environments that can accommodate individual learning differences.

We envision people of all ages and abilities in Connecticut actively participating in the arts. Arts For Learning CT serves as an essential resource for arts engagement in the state. This engagement flows from a roster of professional teaching and performing artists who spread their artistic expertise and inquiry into multiple disciplines to stimulate life long learning and creativity. Our work transforms the public’s understanding of the value of the arts as an active and natural part of everyone’s life.
Our Work has Impact. Annually, Arts for Learning Connecticut serves 200,000+ individuals by providing arts-based programming to schools, libraries, community centers, public housing complexes and other youth- and family-serving organizations throughout the state. We work in partnership with educators, local professional artists, community leaders and funders to create programs that combine classroom study, performances, workshops and residencies in a wide variety of arts disciplines that connect to aspects of learning throughout the school day and beyond. Our professional teaching artists deliver artistically excellent and educationally relevant work in music, dance and movement, theater arts, storytelling, visual arts and digital arts. For educators, we offer professional development in arts integration.
Why the Arts? - Our passion for arts in education is based in its transformative power. The arts honors the uniqueness of each individual, invites opportunities to control learning through creative choices, and allows young people to explore a variety of ways to communicate. The arts inspire young people and expand their learning so that they can lead healthy, fulfilling and productive lives. Arts integration is also a valuable tool for reaching multiple learning styles across the curriculum and is linked to enhanced academic outcomes and social/emotional development for children, including those with special needs.
The arts can help transform communities. Arts engagement among families and people of all ages promotes social cohesion and fosters a sense of permanence, pride and place. Activities such as learning a new art form, creating a collaborative public work of art, and celebrating different cultural traditions brings joy and inspiration to people’s lives.
