Hamden, CT — March 18, 2026 — Arts for Learning CT is proud to announce it has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Marjorie Moore Charitable Foundation to support arts learning programming at Mary E. Griswold Elementary School in Kensington, Connecticut.

This funding will support Beloved Community: Arts for Social and Emotional Learning in Kensington, a program designed to bring a school-wide performance and four days of hands-on arts workshops to all 522 students in grades K–5. The initiative focuses on strengthening Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), fostering a positive school climate, and expanding opportunities for creative expression among students.

Led by AFLCT’s roster of professional Teaching Artists, the program will provide interactive, culturally responsive arts experiences that help students build confidence, communication skills, empathy, and self-expression. These experiences are especially impactful in supporting students who benefit from active, collaborative, and inclusive learning environments.

The program builds on the success of previous AFLCT programming at the school, where 100% of students, teachers, and Teaching Artists reported positive engagement and learning outcomes. Teachers noted that arts experiences helped students feel “safe, excited, and ready to learn,” reinforcing the role of arts education in supporting both academic success and student wellbeing.

The Marjorie Moore Charitable Foundation, administered by Bank of America, N.A., funds programs that enrich communities through education, health, and social welfare initiatives. This generous grant aligns with AFLCT’s mission to inspire young learners and expand their learning through the arts and Griswold Elementary School’s dedication to fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
