HAMDEN, CT —Arts for Learning Connecticut (AFLCT) is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded a $5,000 Community Response Grant from the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain. This generous grant will support AFLCT’s “Express Yourself” after-school programs at Joseph A. DePaolo Middle School in Southington, CT, and HALS Academy in New Britain, CT, for the 2024-25 school year.

The “Express Yourself” after-school program engages middle school students in creative workshops that explore various art forms, allowing them to express their ideas and emotions through the arts. The program, featuring AFLCT’s diverse roster of Teaching Artists, aligns with the schools’ missions to provide students with culturally enriching, hands-on learning experiences. At both Joseph A. DePaolo Middle School and HALS Academy, students will have the opportunity to develop their creative skills and share their original works with their school communities.

“We are deeply grateful to the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain for their generous support of our work,” said John-Michael Parker, Executive Director of Arts for Learning CT. “This funding will allow us to expand our after-school programs, empowering even more students to express themselves creatively and engage with their peers and community through the arts.”
