HAMDEN, CT — July 29, 2025 — Arts for Learning CT (AFLCT) is honored to announce it has received a $25,000 grant in general operating support from The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven. This investment will help sustain and expand AFLCT’s mission-driven work in arts-integrated education across the region.
Each year, AFLCT delivers high-quality, culturally responsive arts learning experiences to over 70,000 students statewide, with nearly 25,000 served in Greater New Haven alone. Programs include in-school performances, hands-on workshops, long-term artist residencies, and professional development for educators.
This grant will support AFLCT’s continued delivery of responsive programming, strengthening of its Higher Order Thinking Schools initiative, and professional development for a diverse roster of Teaching Artists, many of whom live and work in the region. Additionally, it will strengthen the organization’s leadership role in the Connecticut Arts Learning Collaborative (CALC), a collective impact initiative advancing equitable access to arts education statewide.
“We are deeply grateful to The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven for its continued partnership and belief in our work,” said John-Michael Parker, Executive Director of Arts for Learning Connecticut. “This funding comes at a critical time, as schools face financial pressures and families seek creative, engaging opportunities for their children. The Foundation’s support allows us to meet these needs head-on while building a stronger, more connected arts learning ecosystem.”
About The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven
The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven was established in 1928 as a permanent charitable endowment for the community. It is one of the oldest and largest community foundations in the country and the largest grant maker in Greater New Haven’s twenty-town region.
More than three generations of donors have built our community endowment by establishing permanent funds or making gifts to existing funds that distribute grants to support a broad variety of issues and organizations. These donors, past and present, make their gifts to ensure that programs and causes that matter most to them will be supported today and forever.
