HAMDEN, CT, May 26, 2025 — Arts for Learning CT is excited to announce a $3,000 grant from the Glastonbury Greater Together Community Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, awarded in support of the Express Yourself after-school arts learning program at Gideon Welles School. This funding will support program implementation during the 2025–26 school year, expanding access to creative, culturally responsive arts education for Glastonbury’s 5th and 6th grade students.
Express Yourself offers hands-on workshops in visual art, dance, theater, and music, delivered by AFLCT’s professional Teaching Artists. The program helps students develop artistic skills, build confidence, and strengthen social-emotional learning through joyful, collaborative creative experiences beyond the traditional school day.
“We’re incredibly grateful to the Glastonbury Greater Together Community Fund for investing in the creative development of local youth,” said Jed Kornbluh, Director of Business Development at AFLCT. “Express Yourself empowers students at Gideon Welles to discover their voices, celebrate their identities, and grow through the arts.”
This award marks AFLCT’s first time bringing its Express Yourself model to Gideon Welles School, where school leaders have prioritized enriching, inclusive after-school programming. The program aligns with AFLCT’s broader mission to inspire young people and expand their learning through the arts, especially in partnership with Connecticut public schools.
