Arts for Learning Connecticut and our Teaching Artists have had a busy summer, with dozens of arts learning programs serving thousands of students across Connecticut.

Some highlights include:

-Teaching Artist Sun Queen working with students in New Britain to write “I Am” poems (pictured above.) More about Sun: Through poetry, advocating and guidance, she inspires people, who didn’t think it was possible, to elevate and understand life’s journey by sharing her narrative and appreciating her struggle.Sun is a poet, an artist, and an inspirational messenger. Sun Queen published her first poetry collection in a book entitled “It Happened Within The Sun” (2019). Her work has been described as “beautifully capturing with divine insight.”

-Teaching Artist Monica Peterson sharing stories with students in New Haven. In the words of one teacher: “Wow! Ms. Monica easily and flexibly engages a variety of students of all ages and captivates them with her story-telling and interactive prop use. I would recommend her as an enrichment to any school or organization that services children!”

-Teaching Artist Aimee Toner partnering with the team from innerAct Theatre to provide creative workshops to students throughout the Hartford Public Library system.
