HAMDEN, CT, May 23, 2025 — Arts for Learning Connecticut (AFLCT) proudly announces a $1,000 grant from the Northwest Community Bank Foundation to support the Higher Order Thinking Schools program at Richard J. Kinsella Magnet School of Performing Arts in Hartford.

This generous contribution will help AFLCT deliver students high-quality, culturally responsive arts learning experiences through its Higher Order Thinking Schools model. This arts-integrated approach fosters student voice, engagement, and creative thinking. The program at Kinsella Magnet School builds on the school’s deep commitment to the arts and AFLCT’s expertise in professional Teaching Artist residencies to enrich learning across all subject areas.

“We’re deeply grateful to the Northwest Community Bank Foundation for recognizing the importance of equitable access to arts education,” said John-Michael Parker, Executive Director of AFLCT. “This funding supports our shared vision for vibrant, student-centered learning environments in Hartford’s public schools.”

Through this grant, Kinsella students will engage in hands-on arts activities that promote collaboration, critical thinking, and personal expression, core elements of the Higher Order Thinking Schools approach that has served Connecticut communities for over 30 years.
