HAMDEN, CT — November 19, 2025 — Arts for Learning Connecticut (AFLCT) is pleased to announce it has received a $5,000 grant from the R. S. Gernon Trust to support Tell Your Story, AFLCT’s expressive arts learning initiative at Uncas Elementary School in Norwich, CT.

This renewed funding from the Gernon Trust will allow AFLCT to expand access to high-impact programming focused on creative expression, narrative storytelling, and social-emotional development. Through workshops, residencies, and performances led by professional teaching artists, students at Uncas Elementary will have opportunities to explore identity, build confidence, and develop their own artistic voice.

“We are sincerely thankful to the R. S. Gernon Trust for supporting expressive arts learning in Norwich,” said John-Michael Parker, Executive Director of Arts for Learning Connecticut. “Their generosity ensures that students at Uncas Elementary can engage in meaningful arts experiences that help them connect with themselves, their community, and the world around them.”

Tell Your Story aligns with AFLCT’s long-standing commitment to bringing dynamic, culturally responsive arts programming to communities statewide, especially those historically under-resourced. The program advances AFLCT’s mission to inspire young people through the arts while strengthening essential skills like communication, empathy, and collaboration.
